HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU REFINISH?
Solid Hardwood Floor Refinishing
Because solid hardwood floors a full hardwood, they can be sanded down twice as much as their engineered counterparts. Solid hardwood floors can typically be refinished and sanded down about 4-6 times throughout their life.
Engineered Wood Flooring Refinishing
It depends! The thickness of the wear layer also known as the top layer is key to determining how many times it can be refurbished. Typically engineered hardwood floors can be refinished up to 3 times. The thinner the wear layer is, the fewer times it can be refinished. Refinishing occurs every 7-10 years so keep that in mind when you are shopping around for engineered hardwood.
